High density (HD) extruded heat sinks provide high cooling performance per unit surface area.  These heat sinks have very high fin aspect ratios and thick bases like bonded-fin heat sinks but without the performance reducing adhesive joint (fins to base).   High performing, low thermal resistance heat sinks are an important design consideration for effective thermoelectric-based assemblies (or other high heat flux applications).  The overall thermoelectric-based chiller performance is largely driven by the ability of the heat sinks to effectively move heat which impacts the resultant hot side temperature, Th (as well as the cold side temperature, Tc).   Our standard 130x80mm heat sink is extruded and anodized 6063 aluminum, with near optimal fin/base geometry for enhanced performance.  Extruding this design (instead of bonding) eliminates the adhesive joint which degrades performance and potentially can present reliability concerns.  Performance of this heat sink can be enhanced with our custom shroud and 80mm fans.

Our standard HD heat sink size is dimensionally 80mm x 130mm x 60mm(H) with a 10mm thick base and 21 fins.   It was specifically designed to accommodate two 40x40mm TEC’s, but can effectively handle other heat sources as well.  Coupled with our high flow/pressure 80x38mm fan plus custom shroud for proper standoff (P/N SH13080), this heat sink exhibits a thermal resistance of 0.08 ^oC/Watt.  We offer several other 80mm fan options to help cover other performance requirements.  Our thermal modeling capabilities can help optimize custom fin/base configurations for your unique application, if required.  We can produce custom heat sink sizes to meet your specific needs (with a minimum quantity requirement).   Please contact us with your specific requirements.
